Google officially launched its AI technology Bard on 7 February 2023 to compete with Open AI’s popular language model ChatGPT-3. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, revealed this information in an official blog post.

It’s unclear what powers Bard will have, but the chatbot will be as versatile as OpenAI’s ChatGPT. For example, a screenshot urges users to ask Bard practical questions, such as how to arrange a baby shower or what kind of meals can be produced from a lunch ingredient list.

“Bard can be an outlet for creativity, as well as a launchpad for curiosity,” writes Pichai, “helping you explain fresh discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a nine year-old, or learn more about the finest strikers in football right now, and then get workouts to enhance your talents.”
